Why I’m Not Posting

A ton of work just walked through our door as a result of a flood.
Disaster work doesn’t wait, and so I am running on two deadlines;
the normal and flood/disaster work, lining up the ducks for next week.

And, taking an art course that is fun and I unfortunately don’t have access
to the videos for long, so must watch and do while I can!
What I fit in yesterday! “Look Ma, No Pencil!” 10-minute, cheap pens. . . .

New Moon, Working

At night, I open the window and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine, breathe into me. ~Rumi

This has been a peculiar moonth. My unconscious has been working things
out while my conscious mind was busy doing other things. All the while, Mitchell and I have discussed where we are heading, what we want, conversationally.
And in many ways, our dreams showed up at our door, or at least, the beginning of them.

And this Dark-of-the-Moon we’ve had to work — odd deadlines,
and then a flurry of new clients walking in at the last moment.
Releasing attachments and accepting realities?
Opportunities, in the middle of the sleepiest dark moon I’ve experienced in a long time.
We fell into bed exhausted each night, wishing we had a personal chef!

What I learned / manifested this moonth:

☾ My main personal spiritual practice is the tonglen.
I found a lovely way to study the lojong while drawing,
and this moonth I will share my first moonth of the new format.
This after accepting a month-long challenge only I followed through on!

☾ Never ever question when the Universe wants to give you money!

☾ My abilities with watercolors are coming along.

☾ Sometimes the only way to know what you know is to take a class from an expert!

☾ This New Moon I start my Moonday Monday Challenge!

Strong Balsamic Moon, Very Sleepy

Some moons are just so sleepy.
I am an insomniac but in this Balsamic Moon
I’m sleeping long hours (my husband is getting ME out of bed)
and still feeling tired and sleepy as I work.
And I must work this moon, as we have a deadline.
So, no sugar, no carbs, just protein and veggies and a little fruit, cross crawls,
and basil and rosemary to stay awake *yawn*

Waning Moon Release: Deep Collective Sadness

I sat with this a Moonth before writing.
I have just begun to talk to Mitchell about two waves of sadness I feel in recent years.
One is personal, and is more familiar,
usually linked to an event that is understandable —
death of my brother, losses of real importance as we get older
(these things are happening more frequently, odds are).
They are also less disturbing, or more “normal” and
I can find comfort in the arms of my husband or holding the cats . . .
Crying, too, comes easier.

However, I am aware of a newer sadness that is born of feeling
the collective dysfunction in its various forms.
Insane political moves (from both parties) that impact citizens,
A lack of learning from past mistakes combined with an insidious greed.
Global harming of our creatures, the crazed destruction of our earth —
which we see daily in Oregon in our forests, rivers, and oceans —
cause waves of emotional sadness that run underneath all of us.
There is a numbness in people, the walking dead,
as they are immune to the horrors, the meanness.
For unconscious people, even those in blessed good situations,
they are turning to drugs/alcohol/shopping and
endless television to combat the terrible sadness.
Hence a mountain of prescriptive drugs to “make you sane”, more than ever before.

For those of us who may have a wee bit more consciousness,
I think we feel it and reflect on why we are feeling this.
I have to center, center, center and then, thankfully, Mitchell and I can share this.
Sharing the feeling helps the isolation, because around us people seem immune.
I find ways to stand with one foot in the consciousness of it all,
and make efforts to right the ship if there are any to be made.
Prayer, art made with intention, being kind to those who are angry,
sending compassion, practicing the lojong, and occasionally signing petitions,
though it often feels like a drop in the ocean.
I personally turn to comedy or British mysteries to
distract when I need to, often before bed!

If I had time to paint now I would be painting big crows.

Waning Quarter Moon Realization

Waning Quarter Moon Realization:
In the middle of an overwhelming busy work Moonth, I’ve met a goal.
I’m taking classes with the goal to rid my self of the dependency on graphite.
I love pencil drawing, but realized I’m dependent on the eraser — so maybe my dependency on the graphite is actually about dependency on erasing!
One or two quick sketches a day, and graphite-be-gone.

I can see how slow and steady wins the race,
as I tackle both my pain through minuscule yoga movements,
and my dependency on the eraser through daily small drawings.

With that, a five minute homage to graphite: watercolor graphite pencil!

Full Moon Circle

As I contemplate the classes I am writing,
I try to get out of the way to see what needs to be birthed.
Men and women both can birth, each in their own ways.
I set intention on an online circle.
Women and men, coming together to work with the feminine energy of the moon.
Learning how her cycles are connected to their watery bodies and emotions,
and how working with the cycles facilitates greater ease.

I want the feel of a circle dancing, in cyberspace!

Percolating, and watching the forces present signs:
A lovely lunch with a from Bellingham,
A righteous feminist who blames men for the woes of the world,
A pacifying artist who wants us all to get along,
A passage from the lojong I landed on last night:
“When you want to go, you want to stay.
When you want to stay, you want to go.”**
Restlessness of mind. I want to be done already and the time is not yet right!

Note: After I published this, a second bit of writing came to me:
“The Circle, From a Crone’s Point of View.”

Walloping Full Moon Saturday

Tomorrow is the SUPER
Full Moon, meaning that it is very close to the earth.
I love these moons, where it looks like she is sitting on the mountains watching us!

It has been a difficult waxing period. I wrote a bit about this in a post on “Addiction, Again?,” and journaled through the sadness with images when it was so bad I could not sleep. Family patterns rear their heads and family members go into hiding. I held the tension, kept my tongue, turning it over to the Great Is-ness.
What else is there to do?

This moonth was also about working toward the online classes. I had time to think as I stitched stitched stitched on the older tapestry, which was a meditation in a sea of crazy clients! Everyone changing minds, orders dropping, argh! I have input from some dear art friends, all of whom had good ideas and were interested, to think about as I release into the next cycle.

First Quarter Moon: Buffalo

Still dealing with issues, but things are getting clearer.

I continue to draw, as I acclimate to classes.
Sketchbook Skool so far is nothing I have not heard before or read before.
Still, enjoying the process.
Relaxing into Beginner’s Mind While listening to the lectures.
