She Says YES

W15 1 1 BG GREETS NEW YEAR YES 2Sometimes the only way you can push through indecision is to walk away from something.
I was not happy with Mr. Linky (so many people are!),
and still struggling with the whole challenge thang.
I finally said, “NO, because really, if it is not a whole-hearted yes then let it go.”

W14 5 30 She Basked in the Glow of the Full Moon crop 200Sometimes letting go is what is best, because by letting go everything becomes clear.
On New Year’s Day, just a few days before the Full Moon, I saw the whole she-bang laid out in front of me, crystal clear!  I had an epiphany (okay maybe that is extreme!).
I know what to do.

The challenges will be posted here in their entirety, and on Facebook in shortened versions.  Members can post their responses to the challenges on Facebook.  Easy-peasy!

And I am creating a workbook, YAY!

I think my word this year will be YES, YES, YES!

The First Moondae Challenge!

Two days into the waxing cycle, Moondae, November 24th, 2014: LunarMoondae’s first Challenge!

W14 11 14 BOOBY GURL SINGS TO THE DAY 1

I go with the intuitive in my creative life and I journal and doodle and “noodle” and Booby Gurl is often my alter ego, talking on the page for me, revealing what needs to be said.

We’ll share now, raw, what’s real, in  the moment, and some of it’s brilliant and some of it’s a struggle but by  sharing I teach; that’s my way.  And along the way you’ll learn all about the pull of Luna Bella in your life!
This week’s challenge begins the waxing cycle! Come play with me
in the Moondae Challenge!

Silence to Contemplate the Challenge

W14 11 19 BG BEGINS SILENCE 1DSC01635With the extreme changes that happened this month, I decided to start the Moondae Challenges
this Moonday (Monday).
I have no idea what the first challenge will be, and so, the next three days (Dark of the Moon) heading into the New Moon on Saturday will be a time when I paint, am in relative silence.  Thankfully when I have to work it will not be in client meetings but shellacking a lovely old commode (dresser) and working on a tapestry.  Both are meditative, and so this is good work.

All day I have been working with the same colors; because of Aquabee, besides my quick watercolor of Booby Gurl going into silence, above, I am posting the other images created this day.  I chose the same colors to mix and play with all day. . . hmmm.
I bought two new Daniel Smith Primatek colors from Merriartist because of their great sale this month; Yavapei won the day with blues and greens mixed.

I also am working with contour drawing today.  Many people will talk about
Betty Edward’s or some other teacher; I prefer the wonderful book by Kimon Nicolaides,
The Natural Way to Draw, 1938.  I bought it at 25, and have used it my whole life!

Watercolors created with Noodler’s pen using Polar Brown Noodler’s ink in a square Aquabee Super Deluxe journal (or Stillman & Birnman Alpha),
with Daniel Smith, Holbien, and QoR watercolors.

Waking Early to Crescent Moon

W14 11 18 Waiting for New Moon

I woke at 5am to lok for the crescent moon.
Traces of sunlight in a lapis blue sky at one end of the view;
but cloud cover hid her over the mountain where I expected her.  I know she is there.
A tsunami of emotions this moonth.
I feel them receeding.  Looking toward the new moon.

I can’t be in silence for this Dark of the Moon, but my husband and I work in our studio together, and he is intent as I on what is in front of us.  And I am working between shellac
(wet and unpredictable) and textile (wool, tiny stitches, meditative) in our “work”.

Watercolors created with Noodler’s pen using Lexington Grey Noodler’s ink in a square Aquabee Super Deluxe journal, with Daniel Smith, and QoR watercolors.

She Kisses Her Muse

W14 11 14 BOOBY GURL SINGS TO THE DAY 1

Up early, she sings to the day,
A prayer for sanity for those she encounters.
Pregnant with possibilities,
Emersed in color.
She kisses her muse, the Dawn.
A patch if sanity in a sea of madness.

Watercolors created with Lamy pen using Polar Brown Noodler’s ink in a square Aquabee Super Deluxe journal, with Daniel Smith, QoR, Sennelier and Holbien watercolors.

Emotional Moonth

W14 11 BOOBY G FULL MOON 1

It’s been an emotional moonth, and the end was where the roller coaster hit a wall.

THE STORYLINE. . .

The admins in a group I felt kinship with told me how they felt about me.
This telling came about through a mistaken incident, and that was bad enough, especially as it was done publicly (not by me) . . .  and once that can is opened it is hard to close.
We unraveled it, and had to do some of that publicly too, which was awkward.
After two days of emails (hate not hearing a voice but many times zones),
when we had, I thought, come to some sort of understanding
and a way to open hearts (that wonderful pause where you see that
many have misinterpreted and jumped to conclusions over inadequate information,
and there might just be a way back to joy and center and community),
I was told how someone(s) felt about my personality.

I could not recover from the criticism mostly because there was a deadline attached
(two days), and one of the administrators was hiding behind the others,
the one who was the instigator.  I was, frankly, reeling from hurt feelings.

W14 11 BOOBY G FULL MOON 5

☾  EMOTION + ART +  JOURNAL ☾

It hurt.  I actually felt like I could not breathe and my chest ached.
I felt exposed and raw and so very sad, a huge loss.
I began painting into the sadness.
The images above, the first day.
I decided to not teach in that venue, sadly.  Teaching is such a joy.
The image below came the day after that decision.
Moving my own teaching schedule up instead.

As I pass my second Saturn return and head into the next 29 years,
I am again dealing with women, always with the women, familial.

W14 11 BOOBY G FULL MOON 7

After the tsunami, everything is in ruins.  How to rebuild?  What to consider for next time?  One of the administrators and I discussed:

  1. Always remember that people who are strong can hurt too.
  2. Always remember not to wait to long to talk about what is bothering you.
  3. Always remember to check things out before going public —
  4. Go direct to the source first, as there is no going back once the genie is out of the bottle.
  5. Always remember that what may be safe to you may be frightening to another:
it’s your point of view, and it is valid, as is the other persons.

Back From Haitus!

In case you didn’t notice it has been a roller coaster of a summer.
If you didn’t notice then then you might have been born in a different solar system!
Every planet was squared in everyone’s chart and the gods of communication
decided to duke it out in every possible planetary way.

I’ve passed my second 2014 11 10 MAMMOGRAMSaturn return (I turned 59 — Saturn returns are every 29 years).  I hear I start on new issues,
hopefully at a higher evolutionary level, and also doing a third pass at the old big issues to see what actions might be needed within my psyche.

I’ve let go of SO MUCH, both physically and emotionally.  Silk skirts, kitchen, grand plates, and books, gads it is hard to let go of books.  Some of the letting go has been a relief, some melancholy, and some difficult.  Along with that, a bunch of big old hairy issues walked in and took a dump on our studio floor.

I’m working through issues in my art (journal), both images, sometimes words.  I’ve not felt comfortable posting because names were in my journals, sometimes prominently.

The point is, I’m back to pick up the beginnings of Lunar Moondae!  I need to
stand solidly on faith, and the processes which work to strengthen my balance.

And as I post today, a cancer scare is over.  Yay!  Thank the God/dessess!

Areas blurred are to protect the innocent . . .

A Difficult Full Moon

8-75 DAY SKETCH 2

This has been a crazy moonth so far.
Odd jobs, unusual clients, demanding schedules.
A friend died.  An artist friend from Argentina.
And to top it off, today we are going to a reunion of kids from my home town,
Laguna Beach, all relocated to the Pacific Northwest.
I guess this is a moonth where outside forces drive my actions!
